Allpress Espresso Opens New London Roastery and Farringdon Café

Allpress Espresso is planting deeper roots in London. The New Zealand-born specialty roaster, founded over three decades ago, is opening a new production roastery in Tottenham and a café at 88-89 Cowcross Street in Farringdon—its first venture beyond East London.

The Farringdon café opens in early April 2026, overlooking the historic Smithfield Market. The Tottenham roastery launches mid-year to supply the growing UK operation.

From East London to the Heart of the City

Allpress has operated its UK base from Dalston since arriving in London, building a loyal following through its Roastery Café and Redchurch Street locations. The Farringdon move marks a strategic shift toward central London’s commuter crowds while staying true to the company’s coffee-first philosophy.

“Farringdon is the natural next step for us,” says Agnes Potter, Managing Director of Allpress UK. “It brings our coffee into the heart of the city.”

Design That Serves the Coffee

The Cowcross Street space blends Scandinavian simplicity with Japanese precision—a nod to Allpress’s presence in Tokyo. End-grain oak flooring, oiled finishes, brushed stainless steel, and vintage-inspired rice paper pendant lighting create a setting that’s warm without being fussy.

The layout prioritizes high-volume takeaway service while encouraging lingering. Leaner bars line the walls, and a central standing bar invites conversation. External wooden seating offers Smithfield Market views.

The menu keeps things tight: signature blends, rotating single origins, pastries, house-made cakes, and a retail selection for take-home brewing.

Tottenham: Building Roasting Capacity

The new Tottenham roastery addresses growing demand from Allpress’s UK hospitality partners. The facility features advanced roasting technology designed to improve energy efficiency and maintain the consistency the company is known for.

“One of our team summed it up perfectly during a cupping,” says Cam McFadyen, Global Head of Coffee & Quality. The new equipment lets them achieve “the rich sweetness, balance, and clarity that have always defined Allpress coffee—on a really good day, every day.”

Global Expansion, Local Focus

The London investment is part of a broader push that includes a new Melbourne roastery in Reservoir, consolidating operations from Collingwood and Zetland. A new café, training space, and cupping room opened in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley earlier this year.

Despite the growth, Allpress insists it isn’t chasing scale for its own sake.

“Our expansion has never been about being everywhere,” says Nicola Richardson, Global Director. “It’s about steady and considered expansion in the right places, with the right partners.”

Why This Matters

Allpress represents a certain breed of specialty roaster—one that built its reputation on consistency and long-term farmer relationships rather than chasing auction lots or experimental processing. The company’s three-decade track record and measured growth make this expansion worth watching.

For Londoners, the Farringdon café means access to Allpress coffee without the trek to Dalston. For the broader industry, it signals that established specialty roasters can scale thoughtfully without sacrificing what made them worth seeking out in the first place.
